First time I ordered the Italian and this was during the beginning of Covid. Then I decided come here after work STARVING at like 8am last week. At 8am, there aren't much restaurants or shops opened that serve non-breakfast food. Had the Turkey avocado with sliced sourdough w/ no onions two times and also got the Bumpcity cheesesteak for my brother. A lot of bread options, customer service is quick and friendly. They have mini coolers that hold soda, juice and other drinks that you can get. The interior is clean and spacious. You can actually sit there and eat if you wanted to. I think I'm going to come here every other week now because the Turkey Avocado reminds me of this sandwich I used to eat as a child.

Ratto's is an Oakland treasure. The sandwiches are amazing -- bread, meat, cheese and salads always fresh. The crowded interior lets you know the food moves in and out quickly. If I lived closer I would go more often. So I don't I drop by for takeout when I am in Downtown Oakland.

What a great hidden gem. Well at least for me! You don't see markets like this everywhere. I'm excited to visit more!

I opted to make my own sandwich here (if I don't default to their Italian) and they're delicious every time, not to mention fast. I go in person to fill out the paper, slide it into the box, and it takes 10-15 minutes while I'm off doing something (walking around farmers market, getting my nails done next door.) Clam chowder was okay, just needed salt this round! Also the portions are pretty big so it's two meals for ~$15 for me! Their bell pepper spread is fire.

20/10 amazing! My office orders from Rattos about 3 times a month and our food is terrific each time. The entire staff is so sweet and so friendly and always remembers me by name. The new storefront is gorgeous and always clean. Great selection of sandwiches. Definitely would HIGHLY recommend Ratto's to anyone out there. Thank you Ratto's team for being so wonderful! :)

Amazing sandwiches. I've been twice in two days now. I got the Romano yesterday and the Ocello today - both were delicious. The size of the sandwiches may appear small, but they are surprisingly very filling given the quality and freshness of the ingredients and I ended up eating half for lunch and saving the other half for later. The prices are reasonable too. I also tried the house made potato salad and it was excellent. A new favorite spot!

That was an amazing sandwich. I chose to create my own and it came out perfect. My friend got the Jammon Serrano with manchego. He spent some time in Spain in his youth. So it had some nostalgia. He loved his sandwich. Only knock I could see having on the place is the sandwiches are kinda smaller. And that's fine by me. I did not need a giant sandwich. It was the perfect size. The place is pretty big for what it is. Nice to sit and enjoy your sandwich. The market had a few things that looked pretty interesting, not overall a very small selection for the market. The service was fantastic. All the ladies were wonderful. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had.

Stumbled upon this cute little market (more like a deli) by chance when looking for a quick lunch spot the week before Christmas. They sell a lot of Italian treats, snacks, drinks, pasta, sauces, and etc. Upon walking in, there's a little station to fill out your sandwich forms. The ease of going through the form was easy and quick. Write your name at the top and hand it to a staff at the counter. I liked a lot of their pre-selected sandwiches and went with the hummus, cucumber, and olive sandwich. It was definitely a hearty lunch that didn't break the bank. I also added a cup of split pea soup with ham, that was really delicious! Totally tasted each ingredient. My name was called when my sandwich was ready and I proceeded to the register. Easy peazy. The interior is spacious with ample seating that's spread out. They also have a couple of tables outside. Parking is per the usual challenges around this part of Oakland. However, they're public transport accessible by bus or BART. Next time I'm around this part of town and need a quick bite, I'll be coming to Ratto's. #47/2023

G.B. Ratto & Co. on Victorian Row is Oakland's landmark deli, continuously owned and operated by the Ratto family since 1897. If you haven't visited recently, Ratto's has gone through a modern renovation. It's brighter and much more inviting. Today, I was completely blown away. I ordered a Prosciutto and Swiss Cheese sandwich on a Sourdough roll. The Acme roll was fresh and crunchy and full of sourdough flavor. The right amount of mayo and mustard and dill pickles. It remined me of the way Deli Sandwiches used to be made. If you find your self in Old Town Oakland, drop by Ratto's The area is safe and walkable. Their a a lot of other great places to eat and hang out. Matt says check Ratto's out

Stopped to ratto's recently to pick up some Italian pantry essentials and try a sandwich. Sandwich was good, but grocery section was disappointing? From pictures and memory of the last time I was here, it seems like there used to be a lot more - the store now feels very empty. I guess Ratto's is mainly for sandwiches now. Would stop by for a half sandwich regularly if I worked around here, but maybe skip the shopping.
